Imo Assembly: Egu’s Return Threatened, As Aguocha Holds Ticket Tight

Hon. Obinna Egu

All may not be well with the current political aspiration of the member representing Ngor Okpala state constituency Hon. Obinna Egu, who recently moved from the All Progressives Congress APC to the Action Alliance AA alongside majority of his colleagues in a bid to actualize their individua ambition of returning to the state Assembly come 2019. It will be recalled that majority of the members of the House who are of the Governor Rochas Okorocha Rescue Mission political family otherwise known as “Agburu” had lost out in the political tussle that engulfed the gubernatorial primaries of APC in the state, Hon. Egu, who currently is contesting for his second term bid on the platform of the AA, has been described as extraordinary joker arid a desperate power monger who can do anything for power.

Speaking to journalists in Owerri recently, Mr, Patrick Aguocha who maintained to be the only candidate of AA for Ngor Okpala State Constituency Seat, having won the state Assembly primaries of the Party and his name transmitted to INEC by his Party and same published by INEC described the posturing of Hon. Egu as provocative, misleading and affront to the tenent of democracy. Worried by the avalanche of calls from supporters, party members as well as men and women of good conscience, Mr. Aguocha maintained that inspite of the obvious provocation; he will remain calm in the pursuit of his ambition, as no amount of intimidation and blackmail will deter him from pursuing his aspiration. Hear him ‘My attention has been drawn to the activities of my brother from Umuohiagu, Obinna Egu, who has been parading himself recently as the candidate of Action Alliance for Ngor Okpala state Assembly seat, I see such action as unwarranted and provocative. If he is not out to cause mischief, Obinna ought to have known that INEC had published my name in line with electoral law” He described Egu as an unstable political character, who is controlled by his inordinate quest for power,

In a letter to the National Chairman of INEC through his lawyer A.C Nwaneri of , Dawuda Chambers, Mr. Aguocha drew the attention of the electoral umpire to what he described as an ugly developrnent” where Obinna Egu has been parading and holding himself as the candidate of AA, the position he won in a primaries held on 5th October 2018. He went further to inform INEC and the general public to disregard Obinna Egu and his gang of politically displaced jobbers. Mr. Aguocha further described Egu as  one who has lost his political bearing, having jumped from PDP to APC and-“AA within a short period of time and advised him to slow down and, rediscover himself.

He however denied selling his mandate to Obinna Egu or any other person, neither has he entered into negotiation with anyone for the purpose of giving up his mandate. He urged his supporters to remain focused with the campaigns and disregard any contrary position, as he remain committed to

giving Ngor Okpala people sound and effective representation.,

Also speaking, The National Secretary of Mezie Ngor Okpala Progressive Union,

Mr. Cajetan Akuta described the developrrieht as the height of impunity and unchecked desperation. According to him”I view this as an insult to the collective sensibilities of our people, an injury to one, is an injury to all, we cannot all sit back and watch,-injustice and impunity reign supreme in our body polity, irrespective of who is the victim and political affiliation, impunity is impunity. Evil and wickedness strive when men of good conscience show indifference. If not you today, it can be you tomorrow” He went further “Look, Patrick is an Ngor Okpala son, and that is primary and fundamental, party affiliation is a secondary consideration. We must all rise to put perpetual stop to reign of impunity, imposition, political rascality, and highhandedness in Ngor Okpala” He further urged politicians to also play by the rule of the game by displaying the spirit of sportsmanship other than the it- must- be- me syndrome.
